Problem Statement:
Keeping up with Patent Application Information Retrieval (PAIR) is manual, time consuming, prone to errors and omissions, and expensive.
AURORA NORTH SOLUTION:
PairLink is Aurora North’s proprietary streaming software developed at the request of our Intellectual Property (IP) law clients. PairLink automates Private patent and information document retrieval from the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). By using technology and automation PairLink will:

Benefit Detail
The automation of Patent Document Retrieval in a timely fashion, with redundancies to catch human error, and accuracy, is the key to streamlining retrieval of USPTO documents. Desired outcomes are: reduced document delay; reduced paper processing; reallocation of resources from manual download processes; increased accuracy; lowered risk; and streamlined admin department operations.
- Reduce Document Delay - documents are received same day as PTO Private Pair Posting.
- Reduce Paper Processing - documents are routed to firm legal and administrative personnel as soon as they are received.
- Reallocate Resources – remove manual download processes and routing / notification.
- Increase Accuracy - with constant coding and naming standard documents are consistently coded and placed in the correct location.
- Lower Risk - Implement Firm Wide Exception Policies – if documents are downloaded and matters are not found due to inaccurate data, standard electronic policies can identify, notify and correct.
- Streamline admin department operations – set the table for electronic mail logs, lightning fast client reporting and other core procedures.

Accesses Private Pair downloading of all documents associated with a certificate’s customer number(s); can be run on three Schedules:
-Last 3 Days (run couple times a day)
-Last 7 Days (run in the morning)
-Last 30 Days (run overnight)

Solution performs Doc Class mapping

Additional Highlights: complete back-office solution, downloads are completed in batches to avoid any connectivity issues, administrative tool to control document codes and mappings.
How The Process Works:
1. Download Service:
- Retrieves document from PTO
- Removes duplicates and combines documents
2. Release Service:
- Places document into DMS
- Maps download attributes to DMS profile properties
3. Notification – Workflow Foundation \ IntApp:
- Email with attached DMS link
- Automatic construction of email to forward to client
- Digest Summary
4. E-Office Action Compare:
- Compares documents downloaded from private pair to documents sent via the e-office action program
- Update of docketing system
